Chvches - Gun

Chvrches are a band I've been talking about for a while now, and I think their latest song Gun is the one to get the electronic Scottish group the recognition they deserve. They performed a great set this time last year and I'd love them to come back to see how far they've come. If you like this I'd recommend looking for some of their other songs I've shared.

~.

Kraftwerk - The Model

I never thought I'd get the chance to see one of my dad's favourite bands live, but I managed to witness a live 3D Kraftwerk concert and it was outstanding! The Model is my favourite Kraftwerk song, scraping past The Robots and Autobahn.

Foals - Olympic Airways

Foals are a band I've got to see three times now and they just don't seem to dissapoint. They have countless great songs, and Olympic Airways is no different! It's toe tapping music and chanted chorus are outstanding in a typical Foals unique way.

POLICA - Violent Games

The Naked And Famous - Hearts Like Ours

Sorry for disappearing again, it's been a busy summer... I'm back now though from holidays and Longitude, an incredible festival! It exceeded all expectations. I can happily say I am the proud owner of Chris Thomson's (Vampire Weekend) drumstick! For me Vampire Weekend were the highlight of Saturday, with Foals being the highlight of Friday and Hot Chip on Sunday. I seen a lot of great bands like Local Natives, Kraftwerk, Yeah Yeah Yeahs!, Phoenix, Cast of Cheers, Stealing Sheep, Mmoths, etc...
Anyway here's a new song from one of my favourite bands The Naked And Famous. This is the first new material I've heard and I'm looking forward to seeing the New Zealand band again in November!

Phoenix - 1901

This has been one of my favourite songs for the past few years, and it is the one that got me listening to Phoenix. Now I can't wait to see them in a months time! Phoenix are a band with many great songs, 1901 is definitely one of them! This is a true indie anthem.
This is not the official video, but this is better I think, and the sound is not distorted.
~.

Baths - Worsening

Baths' new album Obsidian is impressive in my opinion. He had a lot to live up to after his first album Cerulean, an album which I have praised countless times in the past. Although I do not think it is as good just yet, I am still a fan of his new songs. I recommend buying this album if you haven't already, the music is certainly interesting to say the least.
This is the opening track Worsening, it is my favourite of the album so far. Enjoy!

~.

The National - Trouble Will Find Me

I apologise for my absence, I have been busy "studying". And whilst all this "studying", I must have listened to The National's new album "Trouble Will Find Me" about 100 times, and I must say, it is perfection on a disk! Upon my first hearing I fell in love with the first half of the album; it starts with the terrific I Should Live In Salt. This song is just brilliant. Two songs i previously shared then follow in the form of Demons and Don't Swallow The Cap. After a few more listens I really started to appreciate the second half of the album too. This is another masterpiece from The National, I can't think of any real criticism - they never disappoint. I highly recommend buying this album if you haven't already, it's well worth the money.
This is Graceless live in session in Maida Vale BBC Radio 6 on the 8/4/2013. Enjoy!

Adrian Lux - Teenage Crime (Radio Edit)

Gotta love a bit of Adrian Lux; Teenage Crime is probably my favourite of all his songs. It is an odd mix of chill and dance vibes, all in all it is a very nice song. Check it out!

~.

The Naked And Famous Vs. Kids Of 88 - A Source Of Light

First new material I've heard from TNAF since their album Passive Me, Aggressive You back in 2010, even though it isn't actually a new song... Still I like it. TNAF are one of my favourites and I had the privilege to see them live back in 2011 and it was an incredible gig. This is what The Naked And Famous had to say about this track via their facebook account:
"Hey everyone, we have a new song for you!

"A Source Of Light" is a collaboration with our good friends Kids of 88, and one of the tracks off our Remixes and B-sides compilation, coming out May 20."

~.

Trophy Wife - Glue

Trophy Wife have been quiet for a while but they are back now, they have recently released a new song "Glue" and a new alternative version to my favourite Trophy Wife song "Microlite". It's great to hear from these guys again and I'm looking forward to some new material.

Metronomy - The Look

I am a big fan of Metronomy and they deserve all the popularity they have received. The Bay and The Look are my favourite songs by them, they're both incredible. If you like this I recommend listening to some of their other stuff.

~.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Hysterical

I don't know enough about these guys to pass a judgement. I found their song Same Mistake, but there were very little videos for it on YouTube so I am sharing Hysterical instead.

~.

Blood Diamonds - Phone Sex (feat. Grimes)

This song is certainly different, it reminds me of a mix of something from the Drive soundtrack and a cheesy 90's pop song... Still find myself tapping my foot though.

The National - Sea Of Love

The National yesterday uploaded the first video from their new album Trouble Will Find Me which is due out on the 20th/21st of May. The video is simple but very entertaining and the song is just great. I can't wait for the release of this album; we don't have long to wait now!

~.

MGMT vs. Daft Punk vs. Passion Pit vs. Gorillaz vs. Bob Marley

This is an incredible mash up of some of my favourite acts. There is a lot going on at times so it is understandable if you do not enjoy it, but I love it! This was shown to me yesterday by one of my friends, he just gets me... Seriously though, decent find, I credit you and I love you xo.

Friendly Fires - Paris

This is one of my favourite songs and it is by a band I like very much. Friendly Fires are a band I got to see live almost two years ago and it was an incredible gig! I am sharing this video because the audio is that of the album version as opposed o the official music video which has some weird distorted version; it really takes away from the epic chorus. You can search for the music video if you like but I wouldn't bother, the quality of this clip is much better. Enjoy.

~.

Trophy Wife - The Quiet Earth

Gotta love trophy wife, how these are so unknown is beyond me! They have produced some wonderful, sadly unrecognised tracks over the last few years. Here's another one.

~.

Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires Of The City

I was listening to the new Vampire Weekend album (via itunes stream) out in my backgarden being accompanied by the sun, but he had to go... So now I'm sitting at my computer listening to the conclusion of the album and writing about it to you. So far I have been very impressed with the album, they've managed to avoid repetition, which to be fair, they didn't really with the first two albums... I like the layout of each track, the album has a nice flow to it. I really like "Finger Back" and "Worship You", as well as the obvious "Diane Young" and "Ya Hey". All in all this has been a very enjoyable album so far and I am impressed. It doesn't sound the exact same as their other stuff which is good because it was getting boring in my opinion. Personally I prefer this album to Contra even though I am a fan of Contra with immense songs such as "Giving Up The Gun" on it. "Step" is still my favourite song off Modern Vampires Of The City, but this is the first time I've listened to the album and I'm sure I'll find a new favourite soon enough. Anyway, good job Vampire Weekend, you've done it again; see you in July!

Just click the link below and you will eventually be left on your itunes where you can listen to a full stream of the album.

The Wombats - Let's Dance To Joy Division

The Wombats used to be one of my favourite bands and I'd listen to them daily, however I don't listen to them much anymore... Saying that, I still love listening to them the odd time and I often wonder why I ever stopped listening to them as much. "The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation" is still my favourite album of theirs. I'll be sharing more of their songs over time.

~.

The Pigeon Detectives - I Found Out

This is one of the songs which originally got me listening to indie music back in 2007. It's been a good two or three years since I properly listened to The Pigeon Detectives, but I'm still a fan of theirs.

~.

Quesadilla - Walk The Moon

This song features in Fifa 13, a game which constantly offers an impressive soundtrack! This is one of many great songs which feature in the game.

~.

Young The Giant - Cough Syrup

This was one of my favourite songs of 2011, it's been awhile since I've listened to it, but I still love it!

~.

Hot Chip - Over And Over

Hot Chip are another band I listen to often and I get to see them in July at Longitude! This is their song Over And Over which many of you Irish and British might recognise from Channel 4 TV series The Inbetweeners. Hot Chip have many great songs and I will share more over time. Enjoy!

~.

The 1975 - The City

I'm just after buying my ticket for The 1975's show in The Academy Dublin on the 30th of September so I'm sharing their song The City. I shared their songs "Chocolate" and "Sex" over the last two months and I am really excited for their album, which they have announced will be out around September! Can't wait to see them, that' three upcoming gigs, one being a festival; I hope to add a lot more to that list!

~.

Vampire Weekend - Ya Hey (New Song!)

I posted two tracks a few weeks ago off Vampire Weekend's third album "Modern Vampires Of The City" which is due out in around 10 days time. This is their latest song Ya Hey, and based on these three songs so far, this album is appearing as if it's going to be rather weird and I like it! This is all adding to my excitement for seeing them in July! Ya Hey is a nice track, check it out.

Embers - Hollow Cage

Here we go, I've been waiting to share this song since I set up this blog! As I have expressed before, Embers are a band which I feel are showing a lot of promise, they have replaced the late Wu Lyf as my favourite manuchian and. For me, this is the best song to be released since Spanish Sahara (my all time favourite song). This is my idea of a perfect song; it starts slow and steadily builds until it reaches its incredible climax. By the time this climax arrives, I can almost guarantee you will be covered in goosebumps. The raw talent, powerful guitars, outstanding drumming all combine to create something masterful. This is recorded live in a sort of church, thus the vocals appear to be echoing to form a rather angelic effect. This song is a 7 minute masterpiece and it is my privilege to share it with you. This song definitely deserves a share, it's been one of my favourite songs since around November 2012, yet it is still only received 4,500 views... This song deserves more, and I feel it will get more; it's just a matter of time. Enjoy!

~.

Foals - Blue Blood

Man I love Foals... They're just so good! Seeing them live for a third in July and I cannot wait! This is another amazing Foals song. I recommend checking out their other stuff if you're not familiar with them!

~.

The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony

This is easily one of the greatest songs of all time... Nuff said.

~.

The Temper Trap - The Sea Is Calling

I love The Temper Trap, ever since I heard Sweet Disposition years ago, I have been a huge fan. The Sea Is Calling is probably my favourite song off their self titled second album. It's a great song, give it a listen!

~.

Arctic Monkeys - The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala

This song can be found on their latest album "Suck It And See", and I like it! Got to love the Arctic Monkeys!

~.

The Main Drag - A Jagged Gorgeous Winter

I always thought that this song was a lot more popular than it actually is, I don't know why, it's just the impression I always got off it... Either way it is a great song and I like it...

~.

Passion Pit - Eyes as Candles

Another incredible Passion Pit song, such an amazing band! An amazing, upbeat song!

~.

Alt-J - Something Good

Alt-J are playing the Olympia Theatre next week and it should be good gig. Alt-J are a band who have really grown on me for the last few weeks. Give them a listen!

Chairlift - Bruises

I like this song, the singer is incredible and the song as a whole is very catchy. "I've got bruises on my knees for you"; nice!

Bombay Bicycle Club - Always Like This

I've always argued that this is one of the most perfect songs! Always Like This is the song which made me fall in love with BBC. I have a lot of fond memories associated with this song, and for that reason, I feel it will always remain one of my favourite songs.

~.

Memoryhouse - The Kids Were Wrong

I am currently searching the depths of the music world for new music, this is one of my results.

The Vaccines - If You Wanna

I remember finding this song two years ago and thinking that I had found something special, although I like a lot of their other stuff, I don't think any of their other songs are quite as good as If You Wanna. I honestly thought that The Vaccines would be slightly more successful by now. I know that many would consider them relatively successful, most my friends would still of never heard of them... However, you cannot deny that these are a talented group and I am a fan.

~.

Bloc Party - Flux

As I've said before, I love Bloc Party, they are my favourite band! I'm sharing their songs simply to emphasise my love for them...

~.

Parachute Youth - Can't Get Better Than This

This is a song I really like, there's something very unique and enjoyable about this song. Have a listen.

Empire Of The Sun - Alive

After a three year absence, the Australian duo Empire of the Sun have returned with their latest track Alive. I like this track, it doesn't sound like a replica of MGMT songs, that might be a harsh statement but it's my opinion. This is a upbeat song and it's nice to hear some new tunes from talented group.

~.

Alpines - Lights

A rather majestic song, the vocals are so intense and beautiful. This is a very nice song.

Pixel Fix - EP Release

I am a fan of Pixel Fix, I have only heard three songs of theirs but they are yet to disappoint. Rome, Rosa and Lake are all great tracks and I am excited for the release of their debut EP "Pixel Fix" at midnight tonight. I recommend you invest in some great music!
   A message from Pixel Fix:

" Our first EP is released at midnight tonight on iTunes. It's taken a lot of hard work to get it to this point, so we'd just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved, and to everyone who has supported us .

It would mean so much to us if you could please help us out by pre-ordering using the link below.

Friendly Fires - Kiss Of Life

I seen Friendly Fires over a year ago in The Olympia and they were outstanding. Kiss Of Life is one of my favourite song of theirs, it is very, very catchy.

~.

Two Cartoons - Better Coast

I found this song very randomly when i clicked on it by mistake on YouTube, but it managed to become my summer song of 2012. Weird how some things work out, but it really is a great song!

~.

Dog Is Dead - Teenage Daughter

I don't think I've ever hyped up a band so much in my life. I posted earlier about how I met the entire band and so on, now I am sharing their most successful track to date. All Our Favourite Stories is one of my favourite albums and some new songs are due out in the coming months and after touring with Two Door Cinema Club, I think the future is very bright for the Nottingham indie rockers.

~.

MGMT - Time To Pretend

I know this is a very well known song, but the idea of this blog is to share songs that I love, and I love this. I love the idea of life that they describe in this song and the music is simply fantastic.

Cave Painting - Then So Slow

Cave Painting's most recent track, Then So Slow. I have been a big fan of these lads since hearing there wonderful track Rio. This is a very slow, nice song. These lads are going to be big in my opinion, remember their name.

~.

Sir Sly - Ghost

A friend of mine shared this song with me yesterday and I was impressed. I have never heard of these before, it was an impressive find, good job lad!

~.

Kisses - Bermuda

A song that I have listened to a lot in the last three years, it is a truly unique and beautiful song, it has a rather majestic feel to it. Well worth a listen.

~.

Justice - Audio, Video, Disco

I like this, simple as. It's a very catchy track which concludes an impressive album.

Jack PeƱate - Pull My Heart Away

   A truly brilliant song! Enjoy!

~.

The National - Conversation 16

The National are easily one of my favourite bands, Foals and Bloc Party are the only competition for me. Conversation 16 was the song that introduced me to this band, and since hearing it they have really grown on me. Their music is beautiful and simple, their lyrics are some of the most impressive ever written in my opinion, and they haver so many good songs! There will be a lot more of these shared over time.

~.

Pixel Fix - Rome

I shared Pixel Fix's song Rosa a few weeks ago and now I am sharing their song Rome. Another terrific song from a very promising band. Their debut EP is due out soon!

Trophy Wife - Microlite

I don't know how more people don't know about Trophy Wife, their music is simply brilliant. Their song Microlite is one of my favourite songs, it is beautiful, simple and calm. The video to the song is also brilliant. I love this song!

The 1975 - Chocolate

I didn't think that The 1975 would be this popular this early into their career, they've almost reached one-million views on their single Chocolate from their EP Music For Cars. I shared their song Sex earlier this month also, these guys are going to be huge!

~.

Rameses B - Safe Haven

Chill! Just relax and enjoy, a beautiful song.

~.

Two Door Cinema Club - Next Year

TDCC are a band i found back in 2010 and I knew instantly that they would be big, and they've deserved it. I am sharing their latest single Next Year. The music video is of their gig in the O2 Dublin, which I was at! They were outstanding and their success was shown by how they managed to sell out a venue of its size. I was at their gig in the Olympia Theatre a few years before and you can see how far they've come!

~.

Eliza And The Bear - Brother's Boat

I'm sharing another one of Eliza and the Bear's tracks, this time it's their catchy song Brother's Boat. These guys are on the way up!

~.

Lemaitre - Cut To Black

A very nice song, Lemaitre's Cut To Black.

~.

Ecstasy - Melt

Sharing another Ecstasy song, this time it's their instrumental track Melt. I'm huge fan of Ecstasy, they're showing so much potential!

Passion Pit upload video for Cry Like A Ghost

One of my favourite bands, Passion Pit, uploaded the official video for their Gossamer track Cry Like A Ghost. This is another incredible track off their very underrated second album, furthering my opinion that the follow up to their very successful debut album, Manners, Gossamer has been very harshly criticized.

~.

Thursday, 28 March 2013

The Shins - Simple Song

I am a huge fan of The Shins, their song Simple Song was one of my favourites just over a year ago. It is truly a brilliant song and has deserved the popularity it has recieved in the last year.

~.

Foxes - The Unknown

   A very catchy song.

~.

Float Fall - Someday

Float Fall have released new track Someday, and it is a beautiful, calm song. Well worth a listen.

Embers - Part Of The Echoes

Embers are a band that I can't hype any more than I have been for the last three months. I am sharing their epic song Part Of The Echoes, even though I know that another one of their songs is an absolute MASTERPIECE. It is the perfect song in my opinion, but I wan't to wait until this blog has a few more viewers (optimistically) before sharing it because it deserves as large an audience as possible. When I first heard Embers I knew that I had found something special, they immediately replaced the late WU LYF as my favourite Manchester band. Part Of The Echoes is an incredible song and I am sure you will enjoy it. They appear to be masters at capturing a sort of angelic element to their incredibly epic music. This is a live record of Embers playing in a church. Enjoy!

~.

Arcade Fire - No Cars Go

Arcade Fire are a band with a lot of very good songs, No Cars Go is not an exception. It is a truly beautiful, epic song.

~.

Holy Esque - Tear

Holy Esque are another band showing a lot of promise. I am a huge fan of their track Tear. These are ones for the future, check them out.

~.

Bloc Party - So Here We Are

Words cannot describe how much I love Bloc Party! They can't seem to make a bad song and they have so many incredibly good songs. I can never decide what my favourite Bloc Party song is but it might be So Here We Are at the moment, but it is sure to change soon enough. I seen them live in the Olympia Theatre Dublin a few weeks ago and it was the best gig of my life (that is where the photo was taken^). They opened with this song, and as usual, everything they did was just incredible.
LoveBlocParty.

~.

M83 - Steve McQueen

I've been a fan of M83 for over a year now and some of their songs have been annoyingly overplayed. Steve McQueen is my current favourite M83 song mainly because it doesn't annoy me yet. It truly is an epic song and deserves the same amount of popularity Midnight City has received.

Peace - Wraith

Peace are a band with a lot of hype surrounding them. I have only listened to them a couple of times, I am yet to completely fall in love with this band, but they show a lot of promise. I reckon these guys will make it though, it's worth checking them out.

CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

Because everyone loves finding a new song they instantly fall in love with; The Mother We Share is exactly that. CHVRCHES are a band from Scotland who I got to see live over Halloween 2012, and they didn't disappoint. They are truly amazing live and I feel as if they are starting to receive the credit they deserve in the world of music. If you like this I would recommend looking at some of their other stuff!

~.

Coasts - Oceans

In order to celebrate the release of Coasts' debut EP "Paradise", I am sharing their song Oceans. Coasts are a band who have impressed me to date and I am really enjoying their EP. I look forward to hearing a lot more from these.

~.

Wild Beasts - Albatross

A truly beautiful song! The soothing music and vocals steadily builds impressively until the song reaches its astonishing climax. A song I always seem to listen to when I just want to relax.

Vampire Weekend - New Tracks!

I've been waiting eagerly for Vampire Weekend to release new songs, I've been a huge fan since their first album Vampire Weekend, and their second album Contra didn't disappoint! Two tracks off their new album "Modern Vampires Of The City", which is due out in May, were released yesterday. I am a fan of both to be fair, but more so Step. I enjoy the vocals in this song greatly and the music is catchy.  However, without being harsh, I think the computer effects used on the vocals in Diane Young make Ezra sound almost like a swagged out Elvis... Even still you have to respect that Vampire Weekend are trying something new, and after a few listens I actually found it quite catchy. I'm looking forward to the album and seeing another one of my favourite bands live in July!

~.

The Horrors - Still Life

Everybody loves a bit of The Horrors, this is my favouite Horrors song. Reminds me of something from the 80's or 90's. Enjoy!

The Cast Of Cheers - Family

Choosing what Cast Of Cheers song to share was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. These are one of my favourite bands, never mind favourite Irish band! I've loved these guys since they released their first album "Chariot" and made it available for a free download. A few years have passed and they're finally getting the credit they deserve. Their second album "Family" has been relatively successful and have found themselves supporting huge bands like Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party and Bombay Bicycle Club tonight at the accademy. I've seen them live at both the TDCC and Bloc Party concerts and they were excellent both times. I had to wait three years before i finally seen them, but it was well worth the wait. I would definitely recommend checking these guys out!

~.

Delorentos - Right To Know

A truly brilliant song. One of my favourite songs by any Irish band for the last year.

~.

Ham Sandwich - Modles

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!  To celebrate, apart from being a stereotypical Irish lad and drinking a load of beer, I'm going to share some of my favourite Irish songs. Ham Sandwich are one of my favourite Irish bands and their album White Fox is well worth a listen!

~.

Asobi Seksu - Lions And Tigers

Asobi Seksu are a pretty unique group. I am a huge fan of the singer and the music works well with her. Lions And Tigers would be my favourite Asobi Seksu song but their other stuff is very good and well worth a listen.

~.

Cults - Abducted

A song which I have been listening to on and off for the last two years. It is worth a share because of how unique it is, I don't know of many songs which jumps from quiet to loud so suddenly. It's a very catchy song.
I also really like the video for this song. Enjoy!

~.

The Naked And Famous - No Way

New Zealand's The Naked And Famous are easily one of my favourite bands. Their debut album Passive Me, Aggressive You has been one of my favourite albums for the last three years. They have eventually received the credit they deserve with their songs "Young Blood", "Punching In A Dream" and "Girls Like You" become rather popular. TNAF are a terrific live band whom I had the privilege of seeing last year.
No Way is a stunning song which combines TNAF's impressive harmonies and catchy music, but in more of a aggressive manner almost compared to some of their songs on their album. It's a beautiful song that I never seem to get bored of.

Tomas Barfod - November Skies

Don't know how this doesn't have more views, it's been one of my favourite songs for the past few months.

~.

Foals - My Number (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix)

I love when some of my favourite acts come together! Great song, nice remix.

Eliza and the Bear - Upon The North

Eliza and the Bear are a band showing real promise, their songs are catchy and their sound is unique. I look forward to hearing a lot more from these!

~.

Foals upload Late Night video

Foals have uploaded the official video for Late Night, one of my favourite songs on their new album Holy Fire. The video itself is rather disturbing in my opinion. I understand the whole circle of life idea behind the video, but there are some pretty graphic images included; a woman in labour, a suicide, a sex scene and Yannis in a suit... Check it out!

~.

Cave Painting - Rio

Oh yes, Cave Painting are a band showing a lot of potential. Their track Rio is my personal favourite of all their songs, and what a sublime song it is!
I have found a better quality video so the sound bug is fixed. Enjoy!

~.

Edleigh - Forgetful Eye

Edleigh's Forgetful Eye, a beautifully chilled song.

Ecstasy - Shinjuku Bride

Ecstasy are the band that I'm predicting to be the most successful out of all the promising bands I have found the last few months. I posted their cover of Band Of Horses' The Funeral a few days ago, this is one of their own songs.
These. Are. Going. To. Be. Huge.

~.

WU LYF - We Bros

WU LYF are a band I respect for so many reasons. Everything about them is unique, their sound, their opinions and how they portray them. World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation (WU LYF) are a band from Manchester who pretty much despise society. Although the lyrics are difficult to understand, they are very intelligent; "We were born as animals, we were born as animals and we bros, But you, put suits on animals, you try to put suits on animals but we bros". The idea is that everyone and everything is born equally but society denies it. WU LYF effectively long to escape society, and this is evident in their video for We Bros. A small group of kids, isolated in the wilderness away from society, free and happy due to the simplicity of running and nature, nothing more.
Personally I prefer the album version of this song, the quality may not be as impressive, but I feel the echo effect benefits the song. If you like this track I would definitely recommend looking at their other stuff and buying their album "Go Tell Fire To The Mountain".
Unfortunately, WU LYF announced they would be no more not too long ago... This was awful to hear but at least we got a wonderful album out of it.

   R.I.P WU LYF x.

Bombay Bicycle Club - Lights Out, Words Gone

Bombay Bicycle Club are a band that I will probably share a lot of as they are easily one of my favourite acts. Who knew that Latino senior citizens got down to this type of music?

These Brittle Bones - Anchor Bleed

A beautifully simple song and a brilliant video portraying the wonderful Welsh landscape combine to form a masterpiece.

Youth Mass - Tony Don't You Worry

Youth Mass are easily one of my favourite Irish bands. With such impressive vocals, it's easy to wonder how they would sound live, I can confirm that Youth Mass are equally impressive.

   Youth Mass - Wide Eyes

Max And The Moon - Out Of My Head

Max And The Moon's Out Of My Head, a very enjoyable song.

Whitley - Head, First, Down

An outstanding song by an incredible artist who deserves more recognition.

~.

Moby - Porcelain

A song from my childhood which i completely forgot about until I watched one of my favourite films "The Beach" again. Memories came rushing back, a very chilled track.

~.

Animal Collective - My Girls

Not exactly a unheard of song, but still one of my favourites since 2009.

~.

Capital Cities - Safe & Sound

Suicide Sheep offer a slightly extended version of Safe & Sound, I prefer it as it adds more of the trumpet. A rather unique and catchy song.

~.

Blackbird Blackbird - It's A War

Majestic guitar and soothing vocals combine to create one of my favourie songs this year so far.

Passion Pit - Gossamer

Passion Pit, being one of my my favourite bands, meant that I was very excited for the release of their second album Gossamer. After the success of Manners, many people were eager to see how Passion Pit would follow such a stunning debut. After reading countless reviews of the album, I am starting to think that I am the only fan who believes that Gossamer may be better than the debut album. Although Manners was always going to hard to trump, I certainly wouldn't describe Gossamer as a "flop". I struggle to find one poor song song on this album, and with the deserved success of Take A Walk, Carried Away and I'll Be Alright; here are two songs on the album you may not of heard yet.

If you get the chance to check out Gossamer i highly recommend it, there are a dozen impressive tracks.

Ratatat - Cherry

My favourite Ratatat track! A very chilled song with a steady build to its impressive climax, outstanding.

XXYYXX - About You

One of my favourite songs this time last year, very unique track.

Baths - You're My Excuse To Travel

Another unheard of gem on a very underrated album.

Angus & Julia Stone - I'm Not Yours (Fytch Remix)

Although the original is brilliant, Fytch's remix is just breathtaking!

~.

Pixel Fix - Rosa

A nearly unknown band with just over 7,000 views on YouTube. I find their music very catchy however and I can foresee a very positive future ahead for the Oxford indie rockers.

~.

Jai Paul - BTSTU

A very unique song to say the least, the high pitch vocals mixed with a very calm, catchy beat has created a true masterpiece!

Longitude 2013 Acts

For anyone who has seen the line up for the Longitude Festival in Marley Park this July but isn't sure about some of the acts. This post will include one or two songs from the majority of the acts already announced to play the three day Dublin festival.

The 1975 - Sex (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

I know I've literally just posted the original, but this is one of the rare times that I think a remix may be potentially better than the original! Maybe it's just that I'm a sucker for calm music, but there's something extraordinary about this track. Still undecided which version I prefer though...

~.

The 1975 - Sex

An incredible track from what appears to be a very promising band. "Sex" can be found on The 1975's recently released EP "Music For Cars". These are one of the bands that I'm eagerly waiting for debut album from.

Urban Cone - Urban Photograph

A song that i just haven't been able to stop listening to over the last year. This was brought to most peoples attention from the "Epic Cliff Jumping Hong Kong" video on YouTube. The 20 second pause in the official video annoys me, but I find the video itself enjoyable and decided to post it anyway. Very catchy track.

Electus - To A Friend

   Oh yes; chillstep. Enjoy!

Passion Pit - Constant Conversations (St. Lucia Remix)

I always argue that you can't beat the original of a song, especially when it is a song that i already love, so I was pretty prejudice before listening to St. Lucia's mix as Passion Pit are one of my favourite bands. However, I stand corrected in this case, this is a brilliant track and possibly better than the original.

~.

Daughter - Youth (Wild Culture's Leo Crazy In Love Mix)

Daughter - Youth; an outstanding song you can't help but to love, but once I seen there was a Wild Culture remix, I simply couldn't resist... And what a track it is!

~.

Foals - Bad Habit

I have lost count of how many good songs Foals have been released, they never seem to disappoint. Bad Habit in my opinion is the best song on their third and latest album Holy Fire. This is a bold statement with tracks like My Number earning all the praise at the moment. Another quality album from Foals.

~.

Lane 8 - Every Night

   And another...

~.

Houses - Soak It Up

Another one of them ridiculously chilled out songs, very nice.

Baths - Animals

One of the most unique artists around, Baths is still very unheard of though. I love playing this track to people and watching their initial reactions! Cerulean is a very weird but somehow enjoyable album, with tracks like Lovely Bloodflow, Animals, Maximalist and Rain Smell all distinctively Baths, but still somehow unique songs. I stumbled upon Baths two years ago when i heard Lovely Bloodflow for the first time.
Turn the sound quality up to 720p if possible, you will notice the difference.

Hawklion - Gold & Silver

Hior Chronik - Still Foggy (Cosmonaut Grechko Version)

One of the most chilled songs out there.

Dog Is Dead - Young

Dog Is Dead are a band that just can't seem to do anything wrong. I have had the privilege of seeing them live twice, the first time being over a year ago. I was an immediate fan of the Nottingham band, meaning that I had to be very patient whilst waiting for them to release their debut album. It came eventually in the form of "All Our Favourite Stories" on the 8th of October. The album managed to exceed my high expectations; there is not one disappointing song on this album, but that is my bias, fan boy opinion... 10 days after the release of their album, I attended their relatively small gig in the Academy 2, Dublin. Here, I managed to meet the entire band prior to their performance! Finally now it seems as though they are being recognised, with their song "Teenage Daughter" recording 800,000 views to date, and their current single "Do The Right Thing" racking up 400,000 views. Dog Is Dead are currently touring with Two Door Cinema Club, surely success is inevitable?

Ecstasy - The Funeral

The most promising band I've found in a while, their cover of Band Of Horses' song The Funeral is incredible. This is one of the few times that I think an alteration to a song has actually improved the original. Since this cover was recorded, Ecstasy have released a few original songs. Their sound is unique and catchy and this band have a huge future ahead.

~.

Wild Culture - For Everything

A very calm, chilled song. One of my favourite songs in the last few months.

~.

Rubik - Laws Of Gravity

My first post; sharing Finland's Rubik single Laws Of Gravity. Enjoy.
