Foals have uploaded the official video for Late Night, one of my favourite songs on their new album Holy Fire. The video itself is rather disturbing in my opinion. I understand the whole circle of life idea behind the video, but there are some pretty graphic images included; a woman in labour, a suicide, a sex scene and Yannis in a suit... Check it out!

I actually quite like the video. I think (besides being quite explicit) it portrays the message quite well. When i watched it i immediately thought of 'everyone has blood on their hands' because in each section of the video there is hurt - the woman in labour, the man who kills himself and the woman who scratches her lover. Something about the video makes gives the lyrics a much deeper meaning 'oh i hoped you were somebody, somebody i could count on'
ReplyDeletethe woman in labour can count on her baby - its a piece of her after all
the lovers can count on each other
but the man who kills himself has no one to count on (love) and i think by showing his suicide it brings the message forward that everyone needs love
Maybe i'm wrong but i think foals's lyrics are perceptive and interpretted individually, and this is my opinion. Great blogging by the way, keep it up!
I agree, that's an interesting way to look at it. Well said!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I appreciate it, I intend to!
